I loaned my trailer to a friend, and when I got it back bunks had been adjusted. Can anyone tell me how much higher the bunks are than the part of trailer where wing keel sets? This should be an easy measurement if someone has a properly adjusted trailer. Just need vertical height from keel pad to bunk. Thanks in advance.

Try checking the struts

This approach should work whether you have a Magic-Tilt trailer or a KWS (Ken's Welding Service). Examine the struts and see if you can find the marks showing where the grub screws were tightened BEFORE you loaned the trailer out. If you can find these, it should be a simple matter to loosen the screws and raise/lower each strut as needed to line up the old marks with the screws, then retighten. Peter H23 "Raven"

I believe trailer is homebuilt, can't see bolt mrk

Trailer appears to be some kind of homebuilt/modified rig. Not pretty, but it works. I cannot find any marks where it was set before.

reset

I've lowered my bunks before to paint the hull and we've bounced around some information on this topic here at that time. The keel rest should take 80% of the weight of the boat while the bunks hold only about 20%. Just stabilizing the boat. When resetting the bunks, just raise them to the hull bottom and then boost them up firmly with a floor jack or pry bar. Don't flex the hull! Then tighten them in place.

I hope this helps

It may be hard to see. The measurement on my KWS from the top of the support to the top of the bunk board is 22.5” Bob Noble S/V Miss Lisa
