Hi -Congrats on your purchase. I haven't met anyone yet who has been unhappy with one of the O'day daysailers, I've definitely loved mine. O'day unfortunately has closed its doors, but there is still a wealth of information to be had both on this forum and in others, as well as from the many O'day owners you are likely to find anywhere there is sailing.As far as your rudder problem, could you describe what's going on with it?
