I need advice folks. The wench rope for the swilg keel broke on my Hunter-20 and I need to replace it. What is the best method? What kind of rope should I use? And it is to cold to do it in the water. I have removed the wench and post and am planning on taking it to a local boat shop to lift it with a hoist. Thanks, John.

beach it?

I once worked on the swing keel of a Siren 17 by beaching it and heeling it over 90 degrees by pulling on the halyard attached to the top of the mast. Once it's over, one man could easily hold the mast horizontal while i worked on the keel. Don't know if this will work for the Hunter 20 but just a thought.
