When I bought my H30 project boat the PO started his own restoration and got as far as taking down the folding dinette table that mounts to the wall. My question is, how was the table secured to the wall when folded up?. I have the shelf that the table hinge attaches to but not sure how it was secured in place when against the wall. Plus I need to know what kind of hinges were used on the table legs?. He just had hinges that didn't lock in place.....looks like short piano hinges on each leg. Seems like they could be easily bumped into and collapse. Anyone know where to find the correct hinges or something that may work?. The PO was good at demolition and pitched the broken parts.

The legs have velcro on the bottom of table and each leg to secure when the table is collapsed.

My 1982 Hunter 30 also attaches to the bulkhead with an eye hook. The leg does not "lock into place" when set up.

So has anyone had an accidentally kicking of a leg and end up having your supper on the floor?

The pics are accurate for the original setup. And no, I haven't lost my lunch in 35 years.:D

The main table leg on my 1980 H30 DOES lock in place to the floor. On the bottom of the leg is a sliding pin fitting that engages a receiving fitting in the floor. The fitting is identical to what you'd find on the top and bottom of the 'fixed door on a set of double doors. Extending the pin into the mating recess prevents that bottomed of the table leg from moving laterally, in case it's kicked or pushed.

The two legs for the folding leaf don't have similar fittings, but one could add them.

See second image; the first was a goof.

Well I got the table mounted. Just wondering if the PO made some changes though. When folded up, the starboard side of the table is even with the starboard side of the compression post.....is this the original position? The reason I ask is when I have the table setup it is quite a reach to the table when sitting on the port settee. I have long arms but need to sit on the edge of the seat to reach the table. Just wondering if the PO made a change to the wall mounted table mount that the table hinge connects to. He may have made a new table bracket to move the table starboard to allow room for a bulkhead mounted tv or something.

Kito -
I think your table is in the right position. The table has two halves, with a piano hinge connecting the two. When folded and stowed, the center of the table (the piano hinge) is on the centerline of the boat. This places it in line with the compression post starboard side. Below is a picture of the setup on my boat. The table is just visible at the top of the photo. The center of the table (starboard side) is on the centerline of the boat. It's not even with the compression post starboard side, because I made a new compression post about 2" to starboard of the old one, to be in line with the mast above and the keel support below.

THe port side of the table is inline with the edge of the port side seat, so yes, I think you need to scooch forward to eat off the table. Likewise on the starboard side.

When mine is setup the port side of the table is a good 12" from being inline with the port seat. The table doesn't look to be modified. Maybe the 79 has a narrower table than the 80? My table is 15" wide. The 79 may have a narrower port seat than the newer model Cherubini's too. I am 6'5" tall and have to sit on the edge to reach the table. I will need lots of napkins on my lap I guess :) One good thing is when folded to the bulkhead, it leaves a good 24" wide area to mount a nice sized flat screen with a swinging/tilting bracket.

Kito - Sounds like we have similar arrangements. I just didn't notice one had to be on the edge of the seat to eat. I'll take some better pictures today and post tonight. Gary

H30Gary, it looks like your table leg is well port of the bilge cover. My leg actually rests on the cover just inside the aluminum lip. The leg is attached in the original position too. I know the 1980 and newer Cherubinis had some major changes over the older ones. This must be one of them. Maybe mine was setup to sit on the starboard settee with the leaf up.....never tried that yet.

Here are a few more photos of the setup on my 1980 H30. Hope these help. Note that I hadn't taken the time to latch the port table leg to the floor.

Thanks for the pics Gary. Mine may be ok then. My aft table leg is probably 5" starboard from yours. I am thinking now that my table hinge may have been bent since the table sits at an angle rather than parallel with the settee. I will remove this weekend and square it up so the leg is about where yours is.
