I'm in a bind. Bought the boat in the fall, tried to pull it out of the water for winter. Gave up trying to figure out how to lower the mast, but got as far as taking off the main sail and the boom. Now I'm at a loss on how it goes back together. Anyone have or know of a diagram that shows this all fits together. Thanks! Mary Connaughton

Call Hunter, Get a Manual

Mary, I really think you need to get an owner's manual. It contains all the diagrams you need for learning how the boat is rigged, lowering the mast, etc. If you try to lower the mast without the manual, you run the risk of seriously injuring yourself, others, and of course, your boat. Just call Hunter and order one. Without mine, I would have been lost. There is very specific information in the manual regarding how to tune your rig for best performance and safety. If you need immediate help in re-installing the boom, I suggest you contact your local sailing club. The way that a boom attaches to a mast is pretty standardized. I'm sure you can find someone to help you. Good luck. Don Barber

Mary, Don is right on.

The owners manual explains this job quite well. Using the main sheet block and the approx 9' mast raising pole and the 2 special short mast raising shroud lines the mast raising process now takes my wife and I about 15 min to raise or lower. The manual also discusses mast tensioning procedures. Good Luck Ray & Maria

I took photos

of the 2001 260 out of the owners manual and will send them to you if you put your email address in the owners directory. They're not very good quality (I have a cheap digital camera) but they might help until you can get a manual from Hunter for your specific model.

Thanks!

Thanks to all who responded. I was able to obtain a copy of the manual, and with some help from a very patient friend we figured it out yesterday. Best of all, I know now how it works.
