I need help from the experts on this site. My father-in-law left food, chicken specifically, in his refrigerator freezer and the power got turned off(long story, won't bore you with it). Food spoiled and stunk up the refrigerator. We cleaned it out with 409 cleaner and put a baking soda box in it but it still stinks. Any suggestions as to how to get the smell out short of replacing the refrigerator? Tom S/V At Last

might try one of these

Although intended for toilets and holding tank odors, one of the cleaners in the link may work

Raritan K.O. or C.P. will work

You'll see both of 'em at the site Don gave you the link for. Either will work equally well. Whichever you choose, use it full strength. Spray every surface, nook and cranny in your fridge...don't rinse, just let it dry, with the door or hatch open so that plenty of fresh air can circulate in it for at least 24 hours. That SHOULD get rid of your odor permanently. It worked for me when I lost a freezer full meat to a power failure and also for a boatyard customer of ours years ago who was on the GA coast and worked on shrimp boats. Their fish boxes stank so bad in the summer that the only way the yard could work on 'em was to spray 'em down with K.O. and wait a day.

My Joan says - vinegar

Place a bowl of vinegar in the refrig and walk away. Should clear up the smell in a few days. She swears by it. Jim

Thanks All

I think I'll use the KO product as I have tried vinegar before with less than great results. This is a job for a real smell buster and I trust Peggy's and Don's advise. Thanks I knew you guys would have the answer. Tom S/V/ At Last

Try Vanilla extract

wipe down with vanilla extract. Use all the time on smelly coolers
