Just moved up from a H26 to a 1993 H28. I'm trying to find a source for the hard rubber end pieces for the Harken Traveler. One fell apart and the other won't last long.

I was able to buy that piece over at west marine, they had it in stock, I don't think it was a harken piece, but it fit perfectly.

I took the one good one I had over there to match up with what they had.

As I recall I didn't spend too much for it, seems like it was less than 20 bucks and I bought two.

HARKEN TOE PROTCTOR

Dick, I had the same problem ('85 h-34).. I called Harken and found that the part for my old traveler is no longer available on a regular basis. They machined a new pair for me out of rubber at a substantial price.. they lasted only about 5 years. I am in the process of carving some replacements from oak (Teak or Ipe' might be be better)which I will soak in water sealer for some weeks before putting them on.. I pulled the non crumbled one off and am using it as a pattern. It does not need the fancy relief work where the track is inserted into the rubber, you can make it nice looking and screw it/glue it down for substantially less than the $35 or so each, that I paid for the short lived rubber ones for my obsolete track.. If your track is the "new" cross section, the part will be easy to find. I don't know what year the new-old transition happened in.

Thanks

I'll have to take Bruce's suggestion and take one off. I'll have to find someone going to a WM because the closest one to me is at least a 3 hour drive. Do you have any idea which of the rubber spreader end chafe protectors fit out boat? WM shows 3 sizes and I'm not quite ready to clime the mast to measure the spreader. I looked at the "wheels" that go on the stays, but questioned whether they would work with the two lines coming together at the lower spreader. Any suggestions?

Definitive answer

After making several calls thanks to the advice from this site. Turns out that the part is a Traveler End/Stop which was available from Defender at $21 each. That was $8 each less than from WM.
