Hello all I have a 1985 26foot Mac. Someone broke in and stole the boom. Does anyone have suggestions on finding a replacement? Do/should I buy an oem replacement or? Thanks Mike A

Place an Ad in the paper......

This reminds me of something that happened in about 1972. We had a Volkswagen customer tow his engineless Bug into the dealership where I used to work. Someone had stolen his brand new engine. About a week later, he purchased another new engine from an independent shop across town that just happened to have one avaiable "from a wreck." Out of curiousity, I checked the "New" engine number against our records to determine if it was a newer or older engine than the one that was stolen. Surprise, surprise! It was the same engine! The son of that other shop went to jail for that theft! Maybe you'll find yourself in the same situation with a replacement mast.

On the internet, go to WWW.glenl.com, click on boatbuilding supplies, click on sailboat spar extrusions. You might find what you're looking fo there.

Contact me by e-mail.......

Hey Michael, I notice that you live in Las Vegas. There is a 26 foot long sailboat in Gabbs (of all places) with a good mast, boom, bow and pulpit rails. It's been on a trailer there for at least the past 30 years. The boat is trash but the hardware seems okay. You can buy the whole boat, trailer, mast, and boom for 200 bucks! She originally wanted $800...until I saw it! If you're interested, e-mail me. I'll give you the owner's information and photos. mtnpilotdiver@msn.com
