C&C 35 MKIII Manitowoc, WI
Im Jim and a former Hunter owner. I purchased a 1987 C & C MK III this summer. I winter it in Manitowoc, WI. It came with a pulley rigged Vang. I would much prefer a hard vang to support the boom. I do not have a clue on how to find one that was OEM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim.
Hunter would not have installed an OEM rigid vang on the boat. That would have been a dealer option installed at the time of commissioning the boat.

As Greg has said, Seldén and Gaurhauer are great options. Vela has the VangMaster series… Forespar also has a good vang.

What ever you do, I suggest you not go “discount” brand shopping. The vang is a piece of hardware that works very hard when you are sailing or at rest. You need to be sure the connections to the boom and the mast are stout and capable of handling the large forces to be applied.

Thank you for your help. I will do some research on both the sources you provided.
