Bimini Homemade

Ken and Lou Ann, Get yourselves a copy of the book titled "The Complete Canvasworker's Guide. It should be available at your local library. It contains all the information you'll ever need regarding all types of boat canvas work, especially dodgers and biminis. Also visit the following web site and download their catalog. Its just full of dodger and bimini information, plans, patterns and even complete kits. "www.sailrite.com" Good Luck, Barrie

Sailrite, good start.

Just to add to Barrie's suggestion. If you are on salt water then pay a little more for the stainless steel frame. Having built one Sailrite kit I now know that I could save a little $$$ by buying the frame and sunbrella separately. Once you understand how to fit and shape the sunbrella over the frame you can save on sunbrella. There are sources that are cheaper. But for the first time the complete kit makes sense. If you take your time you can make a bimini and/or dodger as good as any in the marina. My bimini was about $300. including my own design of a cover with velcro. I fold and cover mine when I am away from the boat for more than a week.

Where is your travelor?

If, like our '77 h27, it is at the back of the cockpit, placement of the bimini is more problematic. David Lady Lillie
