ODay Hull# 23893 Portage Lake
My neighbor who is 90 years old found an ODay boat in the corner of one of his barns. He remembers that he stored it for somebody but doesn't remember who. I helped him pull it out. (side note trailer tires were still full of air after thirty years) I found a plate with two numbers Hull #23893 and Class # 92. I couldn't find any other info on the boat. What are the particulars about the boat?

I have filed a claim on an abandoned boat in the past. You will need to follow your states process to get legal ownership. It was not that difficult. Call the agency in your state that titles boats.

Well someone has to start: It looks like a Soling. It's a performance boat with that high aspect ratio keel, long water line, spindly mast. Looks to be in pretty good shape.
SBData.com shows a very similar underbody to the Soling but the Soling doesn't have a cuddy cabin. So maybe it's a knockoff or maybe some were built with the cuddy.
In any event I would expect it to a fun boat and worth some time and money into.

Maybe a close up of what looks to be an insignia on the cabin would be helpful. Also a measurement of the boat's length.

By jove I think you've got it! Both were designed by Jan Linge so it's not surprising that they look similar. The Soling is 26' and the Yngling is only 20'. And I missed that the OP specified it was built by O'Day.
You would think I know that boat after sailing thru a fleet of them tacking out of Newport Harbor for a regatta. It was a circus. The swells were coming into the harbor from the ocean and I was impressed with how those boats and their women sailors handled it.
Here is a bio on Linge which is worth reading:

I measured it from the ground. It looks like 20 feet long, depending on where the measurements are taken. What do the Hull and class #'s tell one?

In the number is the manufacturer (Not necessarily the design), the number of a series of production, and the date of manufacture. Here is a guide to the numbers posted by someone else - I'm sorry I don't remember who to credit:

Just got one of these in for a PHRF rating. The ones built in the US are called Glassline 22's, but it seems that they are clones of the Yngling, licensed to be built here. The Yngling was the women's Olympic keelboat for the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.
