1983 H31 with what appear to be the original hatches. Total of 2 hatches, one in main cabin, one in v-berth. Each is single arm, and each arm is broken. I'd like to repair these, but since I never saw them in original condition, I don't know what I'm looking for other than unbroken arms. I've searched prior threads, but there seem to be a lot of different hatches from Bomar. Any help is appreciated.

1st picture is hatch in main cabin. 2nd pic is just in case the casting on frame helps with ID of this hatch. Pics 3 and 4 are the hatch in the v-berth.

Scott has given you the supplier for these old Bomar hatches. That arm with the notches slides into a guide with a screw-on lock to allow positioning at different height. Looks like you're missing that part. Here is what it looks like on my 34. Good luck

Wow, I used a link from another thread to get to Pompanette, and was sent to a place that looked a lot different than that. I'll spend some time drilling down on that site, but does anyone have any tips on how to start?

These are obviously cast hatches, but beyond that I have no idea what I'm looking at. I've never seen one in working condition, and both failures are very similar, so I don't know what the undamaged arms looked like to compare to the pictures, etc.

Can anyone tell me what series hatches were put into 1983 H31's? From there I can measure inside dimensions on the boat, counting the number of dogs, and take a bunch of pictures to bring back to my computer to compare.

EDIT: Bomar folks are most helpful, and I'm trying to work it out with them. It helps that the boat is close by.

I'll investigate that as well, but I have no idea what to have a machinist make, as I don't know the completed apparatus looks or works. There are scalloped sections on what I'm calling the "arm", and they must have served a purpose, catching on something for instance. But I don't know what that "something" is. I also suspect that the arm went into a sleeve of some sort.

go over to don's salvage in clearwater and go to the hatch department and look around you may find what you are looking for there or take a look at someone else's boat with the same hatches to give you an idea if what you need but by all means try to keep that style of hatch they are very good and the extruded ones are not as good

Thanks all. Claude, I owe you an apology. When I typed reply #4 above, I had not actually read your #3, or looked at the pics. Thanks so much for taking the time to give me such a thorough response.

Woodster, I will check out Don's salvage. Thanks
