I was following the thread on mast stepping and followed Eric's to his web site showing his adventure getting his new H-30 home from NJ. Eric has done a fantastic job with his web site and I only wish he had bought my boat! I was recently approached with an offer by someone that wanted to turn my boat into a floating apartment. No experience with sailboats, just thought it would be "cool" to live on one! Makes me sick to think about my boat tied to a dock never to be sailed again. I like to know how my boats are doing after they are sold. I usually invest quite a bit of time and $$ restoring and improving my boats and I guess it's a little like marrying off a daughter. Hmmm, perhaps I should write up some vows for the next person to buy one of my boats? :) Some of the new owners have become old friends and this just adds to the whole sailboat experience. Waiting for Mr. Right Don Bodemann

I accept the compliment ...

Just today, as I was hosing the deck of our Hunter 30 and unloading a summer's worth of gear I got a compliment from a power boater docked alongside our boat. "Beautiful boat" he said. To which I replied, "I can't tell you how much I love this boat." So much of that love comes from the tiring, and trying, journey to get her home; while most of it is in reflection of a great summer on board. As I packed items today realizing this would be that last weekend she floats until next year, I cannot express the overwhelming emotion I have while "puttering" on the various projects and winterizing tasks at hand. I am already counting the days until we can sail again. To all us Northerners, I hope your summer was as nice as ours and I wish you all a short and sunny winter. And, we'll be back in as early as April! Fair winds (and Fair Jackstands). Eric
