Did Fine! Hope Y'all Did Too
Never made it to North Carolina. My wife was up in New Jersey because her mother had died. I was home with the two kids trying to get the house ready. I managed to get the windows boarded up patio furniture in the pool, and everything else put away outside, then had to find the photo albums and valuables to take with me. We have been in the house less than two months and much of the stuff is still in boxes. Of course the albums, jewelry boxes, etc. were not where she said they were. We left here at 0430 on Wednesday stopped for lunch in Columbus. I was so beat I decide that if I could find a room we would ride it out there. Checked a few places was about to give up and found a suite at a Sleep Inn. The folks at the hotel were super and we really enjoyed our stay. They serve breakfast every morning and do a happy hour in the evenings all for the same price other place were charging. The place was full of Ivan evacuees and military folks temporarily assigned to Fort Benning so we felt right at home. Came home Sunday rushed to get the generator fired up on the refrigerator and a window AC I had bought just for this occasion. Just as everything was set and the room was getting cool I made a smart ass comment to my wife about her not getting to us the AC who had given me a hard time about buying the air conditioner the power came back on. Our cable back on Monday evening so we are all back to normal (whatever that is) I'll touch up the bottom paint and put the boat back in next week. We were really lucky lost no trees not a shingle and our only problem is six trash (so far) bags of leaves in the pool. Hope all the others out there fared as well.
