need advice on window leak 336

I hope someone can help me. I have a 1995 336 hunter. One of the windows is leaking. It is one of the double windows that is behind the big single lexan window on the outside of the boat. I thought I was going to have to remove the big lexan window and rebed it but upon close examination I find a thin bead of black caulking surrounding the big lexan window. I have found several spits in this caulking that is allowing water to seep into the window opening. Before I do anything else I want to remove this bead of black caulking, use masking tape to outline the window and the boat and run a new thin bead of caulking around the window. My question is; What did Hunter use originally for this black caulking and what modern product may be better for this job.

I hate to admit it but I have owned this boat for almost a year now and just figured out that the one big lexan window has 2 windows behind it.

I used it on all my ports and it worked perfectly. It liquid, it flows into the crack, and only uses a little bit.

Squeeze a small amount around the port. It will flow into the joint. Wipe off the excess.

If you do not see a build up, let it dry. I forget the drying time. Wait a day.

Repeat until you see a build up. If it does not soak in anymore then its done. Simply wipe off any excess.

Unless its a very large gap, believe me, IT WORKS.

The original caulking is DOW795. It comes in different colors. I think that the charcoal was what we used. You can see it on the DOW site.

I think that they may have it in the SBO stores.

Just a follow up. I took a razor blade and shaved as much of the old caulking as I could from around the lexan combo window. I then used masking tape to create a clean line on the window and the white fiberglass. I used the dow 795 to fill the voided area and used my finger to smooth it out. I let it dry for 24 hours and it looks like it just came from the factory with no leaks to boot.
