Keel Locking Bolt
If you ever get upside down and the keel swings back into the boat, it can take out the entire bottom. But if you are on lakes with shallow areas and little chance of heavy wind, leaving the keel unpinned will allow it to swing if you hit the bottom (an advantage). Some lock down and others don't. When in the ocean (San Diego) I always put the locking bolt in. When in Arizona lakes, I don't.
