Put Mine on the Cockpit Floor
I'm not familar with the 23.5 but on my h26 I installed the mounting post on the floor with the tiller bracket underneath the tiller. This location pretty much out of the way, doesn't take up seat room, and works very well. I got the idea from the archives which had a lot of discussion on mounting options. If you haven't checked there yet, you should. Be aware that they make different tiller brackets and (I think) mounting posts to fit different needs. The install isn't too tough once you find the right location. I wired mine direct to the battery with an in-line fuse and haven't had a problem. I checked with the Simrad technician before doing this and they said it would be fine. One more thing I found useful was to "temporarily" mount the tiller bracket with a heavy duty hose coupling clamp with rubber inside until I got the location just right. (I got this at Home Depot.) If you have a wooden tiller, this may be less of a concern but mine is aluminum and I didn't want to drill holes until I was absolutely sure.Do it right and you'll have one of the best upgrades there is (IMHO). Good luck.
