Bought the proper diameter halyard for new spinnaker as specified in the owners manual. Before trailering to lake for season launch, I tried using the messenger line to install it while the mast was down resting in the crutch. No success only frustration! Could not get halyard to fit through the block with or without messenger line attached. I tried feeding from the top of the mast. Any ideas how to install it now with the mast up would be appreciated. Also, any tips in attaching the messenger line to the halyard so it will not separate during install would be helpful. Should I consider a smaller diameter than recommended? Thanks.

Planning On Installing A-sym

Did You Finally Install The Rigging? I'm Planning On Installing A Block 12 Inches Above My Spreaders And Running The Line On The Outside Of The Mast To Hoist The A Sym. Any Suggestions?

I pulled the new halyard though using the messenger line with the mast up. I overlapped the messenger by about 2' and used waxed thread to whip them together at the bitter end of both the halyard and the messenger. I pulled from the top down. I don't recall any problems.

Replaced my halyards with mast on crutch this year with no problem. I sewed the bitter ends together and wrapped the joint with tape. Went through no problem. If you used 8mm XLS line there should be no problem.

If you continue to have problems I'd just lower the mast and remove the cap to make it easier.
