Has anyone found a raw water strainer that costs less than 80 bucks? Peggy has convinced me to add one to the head intake but the metal Perkos or Grocos seem like overkill. Seems like there should be something in plastic like the one that came with my A/C kit. Thanks.

Strainer for Head

Raritan has one that has (2) female 1/2" NPT threads, clear plastic chamber that unscrews, nylon filter screen, and a tab to mount it. It is Raritan part # 163000, $36.50 (inline strainer). It is a new product that is included with every seawater version of the SeaEra head that was recently introduced. It is also available as a separate item, part number and price above. Note that if (2) short 1/2" plastic pipe nipples are screwed into the strainer, 3/4" hose will fit over it very nicely, and can be clamped tightly with hose clamps. This item is not yet listed on Raritan's website (www.raritaneng.com), so don't look for it there.

Hi Vic!

Are you gonna be a regular here now, or just happened to drop by in time to beat me to the punch? :)

Sounds right, but where?

Thanks you two, but where can a person buy Raritan pieces-parts? It's not on their web-site and they don't have a dealer list. I'll e-mail Raritan and ask the same question. And do you find that the Raritan site displays improperly with a lot of overlaying of text? Or is just me?

Raritan Website

The Raritan website displays correctly if you have the text size set correctly on your browser. If using Internet Explorer, go up to "View" on the menu bar at the very top of the screen, click on it - go down to text size on the pulldown menu and set the text size to "medium". If using Netscape, I forget the details, but there's a way (using the menu bar) to reduce the text size as well - it says "increase text size" and "decrease text size". Click on "decrease text size" a couple of times and all should be well. I found this out by accident - as my eyes are getting old, I sometimes have to increase the text size on the screen in order to be able to read it. Then it overlays, etc. on other web pages. Setting the text size to a medium setting will correct the problem.

Hi to Peggie

I try (time permitting) to review the stuff on your Head Mistress Forum once or twice a week, sometimes at work and sometimes at home. While things aren't really slow here at the present time, they aren't quite as hectic as they are in mid-summer, so I have a bit more time to check in. As I mentioned a few months ago, I'd like to throw my 2 cents in occasionally but don't want to appear to be a "shill" for Raritan - even though they do supply me with a paycheck... For general info, the Raritan website does have a page where our dealers and distributors are located, by state and by country. I'll have to admit that most of them are either West Marine or Boats US, but there are a few others as well. As far as being a "regular" on your Forum, I appreciate the offer but think I'd rather just add a blurb every once in a while. My fear is that I'll find myself "adopted" by those very special folks who have ongoing problems that defy ANY SORT of sane resolution - I'm sure you know what I mean. Best regards, Vic
