The original traveller car has finally worn out. I need to replace it for this season. Has anyone done this and if so - what size, brand, etc. I have been looking in the catalogs but can't figure out what I really need. Thanks for any help!

Several options.

Kathy: Harken, Schafer, Garhauer are just a few of the options. I pulled my original track and sent it to Harken. They redrilled the new exactly the same. I understand that Garhauer does this too. Garhauer makes the OEM equipment for Catalinas. They have good products at very good prices. When you do the upgrade make sure that you have enough purchase. Our old equipment on our H'31 was undersized (3:1 or 4:1). When we upgraded we went with a 6:1 purchase and now almost anyone aboard can do it under almost any conditions.

Doing the same...

I've got an '85 25.5, and I'm in the process of replacing the car and adding a line control system. If you've got the Schaefer car, a great place called Rig-Rite (www.rigrite.com) has stuff that will fit our old 1" track. Give them a try.

25.5 traveler car

Kathy, Last season I replaced the original track and car on my 25.5 with a Harken windward sheeting car and track. I still have the original Schafer pin-stop car and track that I pulled of the boat. If you would like I could sell you my old car. If you want send me an email and we can discuss the details. You can send me an email via the Hunter Owners Directory.
