I am looking for a source for an aluminum lifeline stanchion base for my 1984 H 40. i understand that it will have to be a used part salvaged off a wreck. It is my understanding that it is a common part used on larger Hunters, over 32 feet up to the late 1980's. Please contact me if you think you might have info.

Re: stanchion base

Marc, Here are several suggestions for stanchion bases. Bacon's of Annapolis for used, wwwfawcettboat.com in Annapolis for new. You can also try Defender and West Marine. I think Stanchion bases are somewhat standard and you might find you could buy a new one that matches. If you buy used you are buying a pig in a poke. You don't know what stresses the base has been under previously. Look at this as an opportunity to upgrade to 316 stainless. Given the importance of lifelines and stanchions I would want the best available. Ray T

Marc, RigRite has a selection of stantion bases as well. They even had the base gaskets used on a 1983 Cal 25 I once owned. I believe they are at rigrite.com

Speak with Mark at Garhauer Marine. They come up with all sorts of trick in their bag.

I am guessing that if you remove one of your existing bases, they will make a copy. They usually show up at most of the boat shows too.
