Just bought a 2002 26X. Should have bought the second axle. Need a 2 axle trailer or another axle setup. Any Ideas on where to get one.

why?

I towed my boat from calgary, ab. to fredericton, .nb. (over 2500 miles) with absolutly no problems.

Stock Trailer Often Inadequate

The load rating of the trailer and the weight of the boat leaves very little excess capacity for all the things one must have for extended trips, and effectively means that the tires/axle are always being worked at very close to the upper limit of their ratings. A 2nd axle adds quite a bit of safety margin. That said, I have the stock trailer and normally load the weighty stuff in the tow vehicle and transfer it to the boat when I launch. How heavily was the boat loaded for your trip, Cameron? Just curious . . . -- - Jeff Drumm, '02 26X -- "Wasabe"

Question

I too would probalby feel better with a second axle but I don't recall hearing of any failures with the stock trailer wxcept maybe a few tire failures. Has anyone heard of the stock trailer breaking? Would like to know. Thanks

Axles and Lug Bolts

I'd read of at least one axle breaking and some snapped lug bolts on the Web BBS at Heath's site (link below). -- - Jeff Drumm - '02 26X -- "Wasabe"

pretty full

I was moving back to New Brunswick so the boat was pretty full of apartment clutter, not real heavy but full. I was towing with a 3/4 ton truck that was loaded real heavy.

Boat fishtailing over 60 mph

With the Honda 50 hanging on the back there is a lot of weight behind the wheels. When I transferred all the weight I could inside to the front, it didn't fishtail so much. Also I would hate to have a blowout or flat with one axle.
