Anyone direct me where to look for a new rudder, thinking the one I have on now is on its last legs and depending on cost of a new one, I may just go that route. 1986 Hunter legend 40'

Have you tried to contact Hunter to see if they have replacement rudders available? Competition Composites / Phil's Foils http://www.fastcomposites.ca/site/ can build you a new one for about $4000 US less the post. How bad is your rudder that makes you think you need a new one? If the shaft and internal structural members are sound, a re-build may be the less expensive way to go.
Look up foss foam as they are still in business and talk with Bob as they will still have the mold located in florida. You can also get one thru the forum website store. Before you do, take a couple of photos and let us comment on that before buying a new one just to make sure.
