Hello all,

I recently had the canvas on my jib tear pretty badly and now need to get it to a sail repair shop in order to get this fixed. Does anyone know of good ones in the San Diego area. I'm sure I could just pick one out of the phone book but if anyone here knows of one they would recommend I would really appreciate hearing about it.

Take care,
-Levin

ullman is decent, north is good--they did mine for ericson when it blew out. nice folks, but not near water. ulman is across from downwind marine on canon st.
north is in the complex over in ntb and will do "down and dirty" if you request same. goood luck. i like triple stitching, myself...north does that.

I can imagine you have lots of options in SD. Hood and North come to mind, but they can get pricey. Ask around for recommendations from sailing buddies. I live in Nevada and we have ZIP for this type of thing. Fair Winds and Full Sails....

Stay away from Ullman. I just bought a "Stack Pack" from them and it took 3 months to deliver it. They had my money the whole time. They forgot to order it. The end product was too small and difficult to operate. The clew of the sail isn't even covered. The zipper on the front of the mast rips open because of the tension on it. It looks like a stuff sausage ready to explode. Ullman's manager siad he'd send someone to check it out, but just as the original order, that didn't happen.
Anyway, for poor service and poor product you could try Ullman San Diego, or I'd assume any Ullman loft at this time.

Hello all,

Thanks for all the advice. I decide to go with North Sails and took it over to them on Friday. I'm in a bit of a hurry (have a trip planned down to Ensenada in a couple of weeks) and so I didn't really have time to shop around. Don't know if they were the best deal or not ($350 total for the repair of all 3 corners, some repair of the UV canvas and a complete cleaning)... but they promised to have it ready for me by the 31st.

Anyway thanks for the help and advice...

Take care,
-Levin
