Hello everyone,
Hoping to get some help locating a trailer for a 1991 Catalina 22 with a Wing Keel. I purchased the boat about 4 weeks ago. The boat is in great shape and was quite a good deal. My intent is to move the boat from Lake Travis, Texas, where it is currently in a slip to Canyon Lake, Texas where I will keep in dry storage until a slip comes open.
Unfortunately the trailer leaves a lot to be desired. It is a home made trailer and in Texas a trailer must be registered before it can be used for carrying a load. I was told that the trailer was not currently registered and so I checked online at the Texas DMV and also called in to find out what I have to do to get the trailer registered.
I have been quite busy due to a recent business trip but I began to move on it as of last week but have been daunted at every turn by the trailers condition. Last week on Tuesday, April 8th, I pulled a 15 day one trip permit from the local Tax Office in order to move the trailer the 100 miles to my home so that I can get it weighed and to set up an appointment for local law enforcement to inspect it and to make sure it was not stolen.
On Saturday the 12th of April I drove to Lake Travis to get the trailer and when I got the electrical hooked up I realized that the lights aren't working.
I have my doubts about the trailer and am considering purchasing one that can be easily registered.
Any advice, directions on who to contact that I might be a trailer from or even rent a trailer from for a couple of months would be very welcomed.
Thanks everyone.
