Just find a company that has a good source of financing. Full service company that can provide the new owner repair and upgrade service and finance the boat. That is generally makes the difference in sealing the deal. You don't want the buyer to get a fired up but then spend the next week or so cooling off as he seeks financing. Ask the broker if he will finance your boat and at what rate. What % will they finance, etc. That is what sells boats!!!
I looked on line and this company looks good.

good luck!!!! Make sure it is posted on line!!!!!

thanks Panta Rei. the boat is a 1985 31'. it is totally upgraded. needs nothing. people cant believe it is 28 years old. I am going to sell it completely outfitted along with my dingy with outboard and trailer. it is a beautiful turnkey opportunity for someone. brokers are like realtors. the biggest is not always the best. I am looking for someone who will put some effort into selling the boat and not just list it on yachtworld. I appreciate your reply Slainte

You might want to try John Macpherson at Spicer's in Noank. I can't really say if he is even still there but he had a pretty vibrant brokerage business going 10 years or so ago.

Also Hellier yacht sales in New London only handles high quality boats and has some pretty professional brokers on staff.

My father just bought an '85 oday 28 from Andy Baker at springline yacht sales in Mystic shipyard. Pleasant to work with, and we go a great deal.

As with any sort of ad (cars, houses, boats) make sure the ad showcases all the best qualities of the boat and the photos are taken when the boat is in peak condition. I used to be a real estate agent... When I was helping with the search I saw a lot of poor quality ads on the internet.

Post some pics with a trailer. I'd like to see the setup as eventually I would like to upgrade to a bigger boat but financially it would only work if I can trailer it out in the off season.

Thanks.

Trailers are a great way to avoid haul out and storage costs. $7800 is not a bad price for new but I find trailers for less than $1000. Often just hundreds. They all take some modification to fit the boat. Always plan on a new set of bearings. (Not much $$)

O'day 31 requires 3 axles - that's pretty hefty modification. I realize it can be done, or even build from scratch. The time involved, sourcing materials, etc. researching pad placement, weight distribution, bigger brakes, etc. ---

Depends on if this is an in & out trailer, or needs to be safe over the road. I live 4 1/2 hours from my marina. I have built trailers from cradles, from scratch, and bought new. A lot to be considered.

Yes, I'm talking about a heavy trailer but must admit the market seems to be drying up. It may be due to the U-ship internet shipping market. There are a lot of guys with a stout pick-up and a heavy trailer that quote great prices to haul just about anything.
Last big trailer I used looked like it was once a mobile home or a travel trailer. I't was only good for a few miles. I don't own anything that could pull a 31 boat a long ways. Like I said, you have a good price for a new over the road trailer at $7,800. The marina just paid $1000 to haul my 39' sailboat 30 miles. That adds an interesting calculation.
I see you're in Racine. I'm in Lake Mills near Madison, I rebuilt my boat at an old boat trailer factory. I know the owner well and might be able to help you out on parts.

Sorry, for the hijack, Back to selling the mint 31' O'day

Oday 30 noank
Hi Noanker. I bought my '84 O'day 30 at Spicers Marina, West Cove, Noank, CT. John seems to move alot of O'days and others. He worked well with me and the seller to make the deal. My boat was originally purchased at Spicers and has stayed there for 30 years.
