Brought the P 18 home from the marina last weekend. Big rain yesterday, sunny, 50`s today. Today is onloading, cleaning, winterizing, tarping , (starting on the front hatch replacement,that didn`t go well , more later). Annie looked over the mainsail,scrubbing it down, noticed 1 batten missing (bottom one , I think it was) in the mainsail. Where in Baltimore/Middle river/ HdG can I get 1 batten? Do I have to get a whole set? Take sail with me to a shop? Never dealt with these before. Thanks, David

Is this the same configuration as the other battens? If so, use one of the others as a guide and order from West Marine. Lengths are likely different but this is easily measured off the saiil. I did not see battens on this site but it is still worth contacting Customer Service here to see if they can help.

You should be able to buy battens at a local sailboat chandlery or even West Marine, if the employees there know what a batten is. We keep various sizes in long lengths to be cut per need. But, tapered battens and special ends on battens can be purchased too. The local sail maker should have battens you can buy as well.
NOOOOOOO! I JUST went through this with WM. They have NOTHING 1 5/8 inches in stock and can ship it from their warehouse "probably in six days."
Open the yellow pages or GOOGLE "batten" and Annapolis and call the store. Order it 1 inch longer than you need and cut it back with a dremmel tool or hack saw. Tape the ends.
Congrats on your P18 purchase. Precision could probably help you out as well, but not locally though. Since it's the lower one you can take one of the others with you to compare. Get something close and cut to length, tape ends. Without a lot of experience you'll find that almost anything will work ok in the bottom slot, so don't fret too much over it.
