Alumnacraft s-12 The lake up north
Hello, I have a fiberglass S-12 Alumnacraft sailboat. It is from the 1960's. It uses 3 inch plastic mast hoops. I need 3 of them & have had no luck tracking them down. Any idea where I can find some? Thanks.

Why not try one of the myriads of 3D printers that are springing up all over?

I don't know that boat specifically, but when I need mast hoops for old school sailboats, the first place I look is the PVC pipe bins at Home Depot. Often PVC pipe comes in diameters that are close enough to cut rings out of. I have made my best looking rings on a lathe, but I have also made acceptable ones with a hack saw & a file. It's not that hard to do.

You can also cut them out of a flat sheet of plastic (like a cutting board) using 2 hole saws of different diameters.

Sail makers often know where to source them from commercial suppliers.

I have used wire ties when necessary. Not reusable, but work in a pinch.

Thanks partner. I made several calls following up but enjoy helping as long as I can. Did speak with Dave Stanton at American Sail yesterday and he has the mast clips as he calls them.

With this my friend have errands to run as surgery is early a m tomorrow. Make sure you have a cup of grog. It will be a while before some moonshine is consumed. Signining off
