Hello,

Its time to replace my primary filter and I'm looking for the right replacement, make and model. I have a 1984 Hunter 31, with the old bronze type filter. I have read some previous threads on filter replacements, but they were dated and now I'm looking for the latest models available. I'm assuming I need 2 micron with flow rate of 15 gpm.
Racor make?

Please help,

Regards,
Tony

What make and model of engine do you have? What current filter make and model - what cartridge are you currently using?

You can use the R-12 by Racor. I just replaced mine. You should have a good flow rate and easy to replace the element.

Tony...

if that's a bronze canister thingie by Perko, it's not a fuel filter but just a water seperator (you drain any water accumulated out of the bottom). Get rid of the thing as it's about useless and buy yourself a good Racor 120 series water separating fuel filter--it uses the R-12 filters mentioned, which are available in 2, 10, and 30 mics.

I'm running a 2 micron on my H34's 3GM30F Yanmar, but that's going to trigger another whole round of postings on what's the proper size filter to use. And 15 GPM is way overkill for an engine that will burn less than half a gallon an hour at 75% of max RPM.

After you install your new Racor, replace the filter in your engine's fuel filter cannister and you should be good to go for the rest of the summer.
