I have been a fan of TV show NCIS for a number of years. For those of you who watch it I have question that makes me go Hmmm. Jethro Gibbs is always working on a boat of some sort in his basement interspersed with libations for "therapy?" He has built a few others according to the script. Assuming he doesn't have a garage door on the end of the set we don't see, how does he get the boat out of the basement? Hmmmm? Fair Winds...

It rolls out on the end where the cameras are located. ;) Have you made note of the distance between the ribs?

Wondered the same thing. Then after all of that work it became a crime scene and Abby cut it to pieces in their own lab. Here's the boat:

I think that I recognize that boat from somewhere along our route from Lake Erie to Tampa. I'll bet I can find a picture.

Laughing.. Ross, you are correct !
While I was in highschool, friend's dad built a boat in a big shed with small doors.. We opened the wall easily to the width required.. Looks like Jethro better have a house built on a steep grade so the basement wall can open to get the boat out !!

When I was a kid living in San Diego in the 60's a guy in the neighborhood built a replica of a pirate ship approx 35 ft. in his back yard. Took years. We moved to L.A. In the early 70's we sailed to Catalina and low and behold there it was. I rowed over to see the guy and he told me that they hired a 50 ton crane to lift it over the house, loaded it on a flatbed and launched in the harbor. Time and patience prevail. Fair Winds...

If you believe Hollywood, every time you go sailing you'll be launched overboard by a swinging boom and every time you go SCUBA diving you'll get in a knife fight.
You mean you don't? I must be doing something wrong.

Last night they had the rerun, Missed the original, of NCIS when Abby was trying to figure out how Gibbs got the boat out of the basement. Hope I can catch the next episode. Fair winds...
