Any recommendations for excellent navigation tools (nav/weather/wind) for Apple products that aren't too expensive? Thanks!

iNavX for iPhone and iPad. The app is a little pricey, however they will use free NOAA charts.

My current favorite and newly released is Embark from C-Maps. The app is free, however, there is a fee for the chart subscription. Depending on the area the fee is pretty low. It integrates with a web based version that allow you to plan on a computer and then automatically send routes and waypoints to the app. http://lightmarine.c-map.com/mobile/c-map-embark-app and https://letsembark.io/core/map

If you have a wifi only version of the iPad, the charting programs won't work unless you add an external gps. Only the cell data enabled iPads have GPS capability.
