I've got a Navico/Simrad tp10. It works fine until it extends all the way then it won't retract. I can duplicate the problem on the bench. The drive gear on the end of the motor shaft moves out on the motor shaft 1/8 to 1/4 ". The motor shaft then just spins inside the drive gear. There's no set screw or key way. From what I can glean from the manual I found online. http://www.bluemoment.com/manuals/01 TP10-20.pdf they glue the gear on to the shaft. I'm troubled due to the fact I don't think anything will adhere with all the lubricant inside the housing. Anybody dealt with this? Thanks

Have you ocnsidered that the placement of the

AP on the tiller may be amiss? If it has to extend all the way, perhaps it needs to be closer to the rudder.

Also, you may simply have to not make such "sharp" turns that requires a hardover AP throw. Just do 10 degree course changes, unless you're a singlehanded racer doing tacks.

Stu I think I found the culprit. gear would spin out under the lightest of loads. upon inspection I think po had placed gear on backwards. there's a very slight taper. bench tests can't get it to spin off now. hope that was the problem. thanks for the quick reply.
