Nav Light Bulb

The bulb on my stern (white) nav light (I'm guessing original
fixture) is burned out. Anyone know of a source? It appears to be
4.3 cm (1.7") in length. Writing on it says A?S25A12V10W. Not sure
what character is in the '?' spot. I didn't find a match at my local
West Marine store.

Thanks

I would venture a guess, that any 10 watt, 12VDC bulb will do so long as the base connections are ok, probably a "single contact, bayonet base"
simply take the bulb with you, should be absolutely no problem finding a "generic" replacement. Frank Gallardo V-2184, Cin Cin

Frank,
Agreed, any 10 watt, 12 VCD bulb should work, but when I took mine to the local west marine and boaters world, they did not have a match. My bulb was a bit longer than any they had in the store. Was wondering if anyone ran into the same problem and found online or catalogue source for them.

Chris,
I have an "old" catalog from Precision Lighting, a division of Ancor Products, Inc., and they have a navigation lamp line number 180, item number (mfg #) 529366. It is 12VDC, 0.83amps, 10 watt, 12.0 candlepower, 1000hr life. It is a double contact, bayonet base lamp and measures 1.75" long and 0.78" wide at the bulb. Could this be it? Unfortunately I have neither the companies address or telephone number. Hope this helps some. If not let me know, I am just killing time searching the web at any rate

Thanks frank, that gives me a good starting point. I did not locate Precision Lighting but did locate Ancor Products on the web at

My bulb looks like item (Y) under "Festoon End Caps". Clicking on (Y) shows the bulb as a 12 Volt, 0.42 amp, 10 watt bulb. No CP, or candle power is listed. The numbers for this bulb don't add up (or multiply). The design volts (13.5) X design amps (0.42) = 5.67 watts, not the listed design of 10 watts. But I might give it a shot. It has the right length. My old bulb is about 0.3" wide. I'm sure a 0.43" wide bulb would fit. I'll have to give Ancor a call and see if they take orders from individuals or if there is a local distributor for them.

Think about it. It's dark and overcast, a four foot chop. You're making your
way across the bay at 3 or 4 knots. Unknown to you there is a container ship
coming up on your stern. Do you really want that 10 watt bulb on your
coaming? Go to a 25 watt fixture and mount it on the pushpit. It could save
your life. Walt, Lyric
