Took the boat out for a three-day cruise over President's weekend. Had a four-hour spinnaker reach coming home on Monday, and the chute blocked the sun for the entire time, which meant that we actually had to don sweaters. Almost thought we'd have to put on long pants and maybe even a windbreaker, but we managed to suffer through it in our shorts.

Right sweaters

we are digging out from under 2 1/2 FEET of snow at the moment. I can hardly see my boat and it is 37 feet. So excuse me if I cant quite feel sorry you had to put on a sweater. I do envy you and wish you happy sailing. Dan Sheehan

To John

I too had this horrible experience last weekend sailing back to San Diego from being up the coast for a couple days. Broad reach, chute up, 7-8 kts for 2 1/2 hours, plus we saw 4 whales along the way. But it was kinda chilly in the shade. Needed a sweater too.

Brrr!

We too had to put on sweaters out in Tampa Bay, but that was after the sun was going down :)

yep yep yep

Couldn't sail last weekend because I had race committee duty in Stanford University's Cardinal Regatta. I was running the mark-set boat, and my tootsies got so cold at the end of the first day that I had to actually put shoes on after the sun went down. Sigh. Hoping to go sailing this weekend, however, 'cause my new main's supposed to be delivered Friday. Nothing like a new set of sails to get ya through the end of February. ........... I don't think it's very nice of you midwesterners to be bragging on all your ice. We have ice here in California too. There's a machine behind the bar in my yacht club that makes all the ice we can use.
