Scary how much freeboard that thing has! Interesting lack of decoration - would appear to be a merchantman whose owner didn't want to pay for anything that wasn't useful or essential.

Yes, this is a replica of the ship Magellan sailed around the world, the Magellan-Elcano expedition, between 1519 and 1522. It was an incredible accomplishment! So, no decoration was really necessary!

Warships of the period (Galleons)do seem to have painted decoration and quarter galleries. Trading vessels - Naos - perhaps not so much.
