Has anyone had experience with the "Nanopulser" (~$85) - the unit is attached to the battery terminals and provides a periodic pulse to desulfate the plates, improve battery effectiveness & life.
The product material mentions that it can handle a battery "bank" but I wonder if this works if one has a Guest Switch & separator between the batteries. In that case since I'd prefer not to buy 2 units, plug it into one battery for 3 mos , then cycle it/ attach it to the second battery.

Back in 12-07 I posted a message:

"I have designed and built a circuit that pulses the batteries similar to the "nanopulser" device. I have enhanced the pulse parameters to better handle large battery banks. I have been conditioning my batteries for a week and then measuring the internal impedance of the units and recording the specific gravity of all cells. I then repeat the conditioning for another week, then retest. I have 3 weeks of data. I started with batteries that are only a year old but were chronically under-charged this past season (all my fault). They would drop in voltage quickly when discharged and did not want to accept charge readily. Before desulfation conditioning I recharged and equalized the batteries. I thus started with batteries that were in the best possible condition given normal best-practice maintenance. Any improvement from that point could be attributed to the desulfator conditioning. I really don't want to hijack this thread on battery removal, so if you wish additional details just email me from the owner's directory."

You can also search for "desulfator" for info. If you email me from the owner's directory I will send you more data than you probably want. The bottom line is that I observed about a 15% decrease of internal resistance of the cells which translates to easier acceptance of charge and more capacity.

I currently have my circuit connected to my 460Ah house bank all the time.

Hi Rich,
What is the pulse load you use and for how long and how frequently.
I am thinking of building one also.

We installed one last year (from SBO, of course!). While I haven't taken specific measurements like Rich, I've seen a definite improvement in battery performance-this is a 300AH bank.

OMG what have I started...... I thank you all for the response. I am waiting to hear from mfr if solar panels need to be detached while using the nanopulser. But it seems worth the try as a stand alone battery "buddy" of sorts. Special thanks to Rich.
