I am a Catalina c30 1979 TR owner, we are currently recovering from a sinking at the dock due to a shore power interruption and lack of planning on our part, we took on about a foot of water and our Atomic 4 suffered. we started working on our great little atomic4 and thanks to all the information on this site it is alive and runs again.
My problem is, it's a 1979 in fairly good condition and I would like to restore and update it.
Can anyone tell me in 1979 did they relay use that much real teak on this boat. and what would be a poor man's replacement and lookalike to teak.
and again thanks for all that Atomic info.

The interior trim is all teak but I've seen the bulkheads in either real teak ply or fake teak overlay (usually yellower in color). If appearance matters, and it seems it does, I think teak substitutes fall short.

Is there a problem with the existing trim? Teak is a very forgiving wood and can be brought back from the dead pretty easily. As an example I've attached a few before and after pictures of my '77. What you're seeing is maybe a couple of days' work.
