Okie dokie. 'Privateer' is now on her trailer and ready to be hauled over to Musquidoboit Harbour and launched this coming Sunday. Whether she will be in a slip or on a mooring has not yet been decided. The only thing left to do structurally is tuning the standing rigging. I was working on that sunday past when the port turnbuckle for the main shroud decided to bind up. I was not able to fee it up so need to make another trip in Halifax to pick up an new barrel for it and I suppose the starboard side as well so they match up in size. Without any specs on this boat we will try initially a 2 to 3 degree rake on the mast and see how she handles. We're using a 'Loo's gauge' and going by their standard recomendations for tension of the stays and shrouds. There is some minor cosmetic work to be done but all in all she should be quite sailable as she sits now. Its been a long 2 years in bringing her back to life. The outboard was running rough after the carb cleaning so it is now in the shop for a tune up engine and gear oil change as well as a general once over. We will post some pictures once she is again in the water.

'Privateer'
Fitting being in Halifax and all. Any relation to Barron? Or is the name suggestive of a change in career?
I'm planning a trip to PEI. Cavendish area (Not because of the red head.) to visit my in-laws. Do I have to be on the lookout if we are out in the boat?

The name stems for the idea of being 'free spirited and not beholden to tyranny of one kind or another :D. Nope don't know Barron. You'll be safe nough over thata way as we sail the Atlantic seaboard for now. The only way for us to get over there is sailing round Cape Breton or up the eastern shore then cut thru the ditch to the northumberland.

Happy sailing,

Thanx. I am satisfied with it although not high gloss the matte effect is pleasing to me. Now to find out if she'll be a dolphin or a tortoise.

Happy sailing,

C witch: The Barron reference is in reference to a east coast song. Should be Barret's Privateers. Something like...
"here I sit, a broken man, on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrets's privateers." I think... Pop into a pub that has live music and ask someone.
The song is about a guy that becomes a pirate.
Oh found it on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO1k6cdkl7M
