We just purchased Asling - a 1994 H 26. We are planning on renaming her to Grasshopper II (as the proud successor to Grasshopper - our 1980 Catalina 22 which was just sold). Any suggestions on ceremony? While I'm not superstitious - I do NOT want to make any gods angry or upset. *yks Tom Grass

secret ceremony

If you want to have some fun, go for it. For those of us who believe that natural is all there is (no supernatural, institutionalized or otherwise), the ceremony is not burdensome: Peel off old name, apply new name. ;)

Tom, Have you given thought to the placement of the new name. On my old H26 it was above the swizzle. A slipmate of ours removed a portion of the strips near mid ship and placed it there. Looks pretty good there also. We sail Carlyle Lake also. You can check out his boat at the end of "D" dock. Come visit some time, I'm down there too. Jeff Gail Force H33.5 1993

Where did you buy her from?

Tom, Where did you buy Aisling. Her name is very familiar and my daughter and I could swear that we have seen that boat within the past few months. We are in Central Wisconsin. Maybe we saw her on the net...possibly in a yard (Madison?). Wierd... Good Luck. Rusty

Rusty, We bought Aisling at St. Louis Sailing Center in St. Louis, Missouri. This name is rather unusual - perhaps the PO came from Wisconsin??? Tom Grass

Response to Jeff

Jeff - we plan on performing the renaming ceremony & putting Grasshopper II (new name) in the lake at West Access this coming Saturday. Don't know what slip we'll have at West Access Marina - we'll look you up. Regards, Tom & Tracy Grass
