I thought I remembered something like this before, but I can't find it in the archives. I want to find a good place for my boat's name and hailing port on my H26 -- and there isn't a real good place. I seem to remember people talking about removing the squiggle and using that space. Anyway, would love your thoughts.

Putting a name on an H26

Michael, Took the squiggle off both sides of our H26 and put her name running diagonally from the lower stern upwards. It's different and I think looks sharp. Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26

Name Location

I have a 23.5 and the previous owner did similar. They kept the squiggle but removed the word "Hunter" and replaced it with the name in the identical font ans the Hunter name. The Hunter font is Albertus Medium with rounded intersect points (a sign maker will know what this means). I like d the name so much that I kept it. I also had my registration numbers done in the same Hunter font. Any sign shop will be able to fix you up.

One other thing ...

... on my 26.5 I did what Mike did as is shown in his photo. I also had a sign painter put the boat's name and hailing port on a life ring which hangs from the taffrail. Wright Ellis s/v Whisky II

Between the lines...

I recently purchased an H26 and I intend on putting the name between the water line stripe and the hull stripe nearest the rub rail positioned toward the bow. Seemed to be plenty of space in that area. -Pat

Great responses -- Question?

Those who removed the squiggle -- Any tips or issues? (Moon Chaser looks great)

Removing Squiggle

Michael, Took me about an hour per side. Used a hair dryer and ice scraper. Helps if you have lots of patience and fingernails especially the longer the decals have been on. The outline of the squiggle can still be seen. I think over time the sun will fade it. Maybe some of the other guys have suggestions for removing the outline Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26

Cool

Sounds good -- I think I am going to do that -- not only does the squiggle get in the way of the name, I've never been a big fan. If anybody else has a tip before I do it, I'd sure appreciate it.

Mr. Squiggles Gone

Well, I removed the squiggles this afternoon -- not too difficult. The blue came up much easier than the red for some reason. Now I can put the boat's name on the boat. As Paul says, there is a faint image where the squiggles were -- anybody have some suggestions for easing that. I know the sun will do the work over time, and I plan to rewax the hull.

Abrasive Wax...

Try using Meguiar's aggressive compound. I've been able to restore areas of hull that were completely faded back to near new shine. Not cheap as you can see, but pretty effective. Happy waxing! -Pat
