THERE IS THIS 4 INCH DIAMETER / 2 INCH HIGH COWLING LIKE DISK ON THE BOW OF OUR 30 FOOT HUNTER THAT HAS ME BAFFLED. IT HAS A LID-LIKE CAP WHICH TURNS 360 DEGREES WITH A SMALL OPENING THAT APPEARS WHEN THE LID ALIGHNS WITH THE BASE. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANYTHING ELECTRICAL INSIDE ALTHOUGH IT DOES LOOK LIKE A GOOD PLACE FOR A LIGHT. DESPITE THE EMBARRASSMENT OF "KNOT KNOWING" I MUST SEEK THE HELP OF OTHERS TO GIVE ME ADVISE ON WHAT THIS THING MIGHT BE. THANKS......

Anchor Rode ?

Can you provide a picture of this item. First reaction is that it might be something for a chain rode for your anchor. I'll be curious to what other responses suggest.

Anchor rode exit from locker

I agree with d j. This sounds like a fitting for your anchor rode (the line and/or chain on the anchor, allowing it to feed up out of an anchor locker below to the bow roller, (or just over the bow and into the water. If so, there is a space below (typically forward of the v-berth. to stow the robe, and secure the bitter end (so the anchor and rode don't all disappear off the bow in case you forget to make it fast to a cleat after setting the anchor.) If that's not it, could it be a ventilation device? By the way, using all capital letters is called "shouting" because most of us find it slightly irritating. If you don't like the shift key, I would much rather you type in all small letters. Thanks. David Lady Lillie
