Druid. I'm coming to this discussion a month or so late. I understand your perspective and what you say is relative to the location you are in, eh.
But you refer to the passage charted by a British Captain as a "highway" to Alaska. I think it is a "waterway". It is a passage among the islands of the BC coast that for the most part is not exposed to the ocean. Thus in old English sailor term an "inside passage".
But as travelers are advised "When in Rome, live as the Romans do; when elsewhere, live as they live elsewhere." We can refer to this glorious land as a "south coast" eh.
