I bought a new faucet for my galley. It has the standard 1/2" IPS theads (straight threads) for it's supply connections. All I want to do is connect my faucet to my 5/8" (ID) supply hoses with barbed fittings. I don't want any valves on the lines. Sounds simple enough but have been to Lowes and a couple hardware stores with no luck. If I find a 1/2" IPS fitting, it doesn't come in 5/8" barb. If I find a 1/2 female fitting with 5/8" barb then it's an NPT thread. I thought about buying a couple 1/2" ips vinyl supply hoses, cut the end off and find a 1/2" to 5/8" barb adapter........again no luck. Any suggestions?

this is a three adapter solution.
1/2" ips to ?"npt
? mpt nipple (your choice in length"
?" npt to 5/8" barbed hose

Bill, I found a 1/2" male npt to 5/8" barb. If I can just find the 1/2" IPS to npt adapter I'll be in business. Don't really care what size npt at this point since npt adapters are a dime a dozen. Even checked Ebay

Since you went to Lowes instead of West Marine or other marine supplier, you most likely will not find what you need there or at Ace. Try a RV dealer since what you are looking for isn't for the home.

Thanks for the link Jibes.....may end up having to go that route. $8.99 shipping though.....oohweee! Lowes did have a 1/2" ips to 1/2" barb. Just need some 1/2" hose now. Thanks again!

I'll second the suggestion to try an RV dealer or a local marine store -- but unless you have a West Marine superstore nearby I'd skip them, my local WM just doesn't seem to have a good stock of hardware anymore.

Around here we're lucky enough to have an old fashioned hardware store that stocks a ton of marine fittings. They're my go-to for anything odd.
