Hello,Just rigged up some gidgets on my Oday 22, to assist in my handling her myself...I might just post ideas and drawings here for the sake of anyone who might give a damn...my goal being to do the least possible in order to keep things clean, and mean...no bulky 12V 'black boxes'...a minimum of deck gear to trip over or knee bash...a minimum of lines to colour code...mean being cheap...Right...I just changed my slip to one that came up that is at the bend of an L shaped channel so I can just push off and go...bolted an extension onto my OB shifter first thing...stuck a big orange pole with pennant at the corner of my finger dock so I can see where the corner is relative to my pullpit so I don't need to lean out of the cockpit or stand up...Put a couple of hooks onto dockside stanchions to have the boat hook ready and not rolling on deck...put a SS mountaineering clip...(harbinger)...onto dock side lifeline so I can slacken from cockpit so nothing to jump over...Ran a closed loop of line thru rail mount eyes on stanchions and around front of forestay on pullpit with same back to cockpit and a tiller tamer...so no matter where I am on the boat I have a means of addressing steerage at hand with no electronics to buy...enough drag in the system to hold tiller...I hang a 'painter onto that dock pole... creep up to it...go nuetral...go to the bow...easy to pick up with pole...jump off bow with all lines already measured to harbingers clipped forward on lifeline...grab the stern and spring...clip off...clip off fwd when boat swings in...done...no guessing...seperate lines for unkown dock...Also drilled out mast for a pin to prevent mainsail 'slugs' from falling below feeder...halyard still cleated to mast 'cause I can steer with the above line...I seized a small block to head of the jib...line led to cockpit to act as a downhaul if needed...netting on the bow also required soon...That's it so far...I am having fun with my big Dinghy...Just jabbering to myself really...keeping a log of installations and techniques for my own whisky soaked brain...Hope went holidays went well...Cheers...Also found a banger site...good ideas and clean photos...see below...SH.
