Oday Daysailor Lakes?
Hey my name is Jeff, aka: LesserZ, and I know very little about boats. (Sorry but this might seem like a long read.) But, I'm slowly learning because I wish to sail the ocean one day. Not deep sea, but along the coast. The idea popped in my head one day I was at Myrtle Beach in SC. So I decided to get a sailboat and start in the lakes near me. So I bought one from a gentleman in NC and picked it up recently. I have two problems. First it has no title. The guy I bought it from, got it from a used car lot. When he tracked down the owner. He found that the man was deceased, and asked the widow if she could sign over the title. She didn't want nothing to do with it, because the man named it after another woman "maggie D". The man I bought it from said I could trick the lady into signing it over by saying that I'm a storage company and there is a hefty storage fee. I'm not a dishonest person and I don't see myself doing this. It goes against my morals. Any ideas from anyone on what to do? Now for the second item/s. The boom and sail was stolen last year from what the guy I bought it from said. I don't know what I'm truly looking for. Apparently I need a goose-neck as well. Been talking to some guys that make parts and one guy said it might be a sliding goose-neck. From the top of the mast it has two pulleys, then roughly half way it has the three metal wire stabilizers (assuming for the mast support), then two spreaders (whatever those are, will look it up), and then the flat metal connection for the mast. Along the mast is a slit running down one side. But near the mast's connection piece to the boat is a small gap. Not sure on what this is for. There are no other people around me, that I know of, that know anything about sailboats. Some people said come on here and post for some help. Any ideas on what type of goose-neck is needed to get a mast made? I'll attach some photos to help understand this issue.

Looks like a Daysailer II. Cape Cod shipbuilding still makes that boat, they have any/all parts. You can also go on Daysailer.org and see if anyone there has the parts you need.

Been talking to a guy from www.dwyermast.com, about making a boom for me. But he wanted to know what kind of goose-neck it had. Mine doesn't have one, he suggested to go to a forum. So I took the number off the hull and checked over on www.daysailer.org (122##), I believe it's a DS II as Cavofficer6 pointed out. Then I started reading some of the manual, and it refers to illustrations numbers. Found a link for an image at the top of the page, and it really matches what I've got. Which I'll post here. But can't really make out what the goose-neck is in the photo. It does seem to maybe slide into the slit along the mast and does sit right below the black gap in the photo. I can assume the black gap is the opening in the mast. Will check out these sites, and btw, I live in Piedmont, roughly on the edge of Powdersville, and about 15 minutes from Greenville. If I ever get her up and running. At the moment I see Lake Hartwell as my testing waters. Then again there might be something closer, but not looking into where to sail yet. Wanna get it ship shape first.

The DS II had a sliding gooseneck, I can give you the DWYER Part# (D 355-1L) It sounds like you could REALLY use a copy of my expanded Owners Manual. Contact me off-list for details.

Your boat is definitely a 1984 Model DS II, check on hte outside of the transom (stern) for a 12-digit Hull ID number (actually, it may be 13-digits due to a fluke, mine actually has 13 digits) The HIN will start with "XDY" and the last 2 numerical digits in hte HIN wil lbe the last 2 digits of the model year, so should be "84"
For example: the HIN will look similar to either of the following 2 examples:

XDY12548M84D-D or XDY12677D484 (might look like XDY12677D84-D)

Cool we're zero'ing in now

So when I was on the site looking through the numbers, http://www.daysailer.org/tech_hullindex.php, My hull had: XDY12216M83F-D. But I didn't know about the M83. So the boat is 1983, and not a 1987. I was told 87 when I bought it. So if I go over to Cape Cod or dwyermast's websites and order the parts, Will the boom come complete with bail, cleat, and cap? Would assume so for $355? Guess I should call either one.
