So I know I still have quite a bit of clean up ahead of me but here are some quick shots of the Hunter I purchased this summer.

Good luck with the boat and welcome aboard. Although I guess it's typical for new boat owners in particular to be overly concerned about how nice and shiny they can make their boat, one suggestion I have is before you spend your time making it look prettier, you might consider making it safer by adding an anchor roller and anchor or alternatively mount an anchor on the bow pulpit.

I see people here all the time obsessing about how to produce the best shine but often wonder how well maintained their safety equipment is by comparison.

Don,

Thanks for the welcome, and to be honest I hadn't even thought about that, so thank you for the idea, ill have to add that to my list of things to do over the winter.

Congratulations on your new Hunter 27--you will have a lot of fun with her. I just bought a Hunter 27 as well although a bit newer model. It is a nice size.

Although Don makes a good point, you might want to also consider anchoring from the stern, i.e., dropping your anchor while coasting downwind and flaking out the your line. Once your anchor has dug in, then just walk the rode around to the bow and cleat it off.

I think anchoring was designed to entertain other boats that have already anchored. The person on the bow shouts back to whoever is at the helm and they shout back to the person on bow. The anchor doesn't always catch and the process starts over again to the delight of those already anchored. With the stern anchoring technique you are both in the cockpit and you can whisper if you want. We did this for a number of years and it works well.

Good luck on your new boat. Hope you come back to this forum with lots of questions.

Congrats! She looks like she's in decent shape. You'll like the 27', it's a great boat.
What engine does it have?

Owners of a 1982 27ft Hunter

We own a 1982 27ft Hunter Sailboat that we keep on Clear Lake near Houston. We have owned the sailboat for over 9 years and just love it.

I have recently tried to replace the ports and/or the port screens. How do we get a list of parts for the 1982 27ft Hunter?

Please advise.

You might try New Found Metals for port replacement. I used them when I replaced the opening ports in my H27
