1979 Hunter Cherubini 30 Clemmons
Thought I would post a couple pics of the faux teak/holly floor I will be putting in. I thought I would start with the bilge cover to work out the kinks first. The vinyl is 4" wide x 36" long maple from Lowes that has been cut to 2" wide. The holly is almond silicone. I am quite pleased so far. Just had some "lessons learned" with the silicon. I tend to mess with stuff too much to make it perfect and end up screwing it up. When I install the floor, I will lay a bead of silicon, run a putty knife over top and LEAVE IT ALONE until it dries :) It comes off easy on the vinyl.

I did the same with a similar Home Depot product that came in separate planks that stuck together. Mine was teak colored without the holly stripes. I'd like to know the exact Lowe's product you used and any advice. I was pleased with my results but would redo with the Lowe's product if it looked a little more traditional. I didn't bother with the silicone bead at the edge in cave water got under the flooring. I stuck it down with a bead of silicone ever 6"or so. The cost was minimal.

Please post any hints and the exact product you used.

Jeanneau 349 port washington, ny
Higher grade plywood (I think I used maple)
Tape off stripes and stain light color minwax, then poly.
Then coat the rest darker.

The poly'd light stripes will resist the dark stain.

Take a look at this. cut cardboard pattern on the floor and then transferred to the PlasTEAK and cut with sharp blade (new) on utility knife. Used cut-out portion for the bilge cover. Marked trim in pencil for the stripes and took home to work on and get it right. This was installed on '79 Hunter 30'.
