My daughter has started making quilts and this is her latest design. (I am hoping it will be a Christmas present for her favorite captain.)

Well... Anna is not quite a beginner. My wife has been sewing her whole life and she made the Star of Papillon spinnaker that is my avatar and Anna has been along for the ride with all of that sewing. My daughter did the geometry for the cross arms and center point on the sail as part of her geometry homework (home schooled so it was easy to talk the "teacher" into the added work.) Anna started her first quilt when she was about 6-years old although she never finished that one. My wife finished it as a baby present for our first grandbaby.

I have a sister-in-law who quilts for competition. Quilting is an amazing art. All the best to your daughter for her new passion.
