I was there with my father and brother on Sunday. I poured until about noon and this was a nice overcast day. Rain kept the crowd down. There were 2 H460s at the show. One was at the Hunter dock that Norton's would be taking back to Deltaville Va later. I talked to Carolyn and Ken of Nortons, from whom we bought our P42 [which was at this show in 1996] and I might get to test sail 460 later. The 460 the best boat design from Hunter since the P42. The other 460 was with a charter company exhibit and we went on that one, too. It did not have the leather interior. Both had the 3 cabin layout. The HC 50 was certainly interesting to look at. Jim Bohart was very busy with it. He said they expect to sell more than 20 a year. My own view is that it is too radical for the bluewater cruising crowd and will not sell to that extent. But if I were always right, I could afford to buy one! I would rather have the 460 for about half the price. Met Peggy Hall at the her head display. She is as nice and informative in person as she is in the Headmistress forum. She had been with Phil H. and others the night before at McGarvey's. I told her what an asset she is to boaters everywhere and how she has change cruising for my family for the better with her knowledge and products. She said, "Well, everyone has to be good at something." The amazing glue guy was there again. This is the greatest glue in the world. We bought another bottle. Have used it to fix many things. I cannot remember the name of it, but if you go to a show and see the guy glueing cut gaskets together, buy a small bottle. it is fabulous stuff. The Sea Gull filter people were there and we picked up another filter for next year at the show price. We have used these filters for drinking water on two boats for 20 years. It takes everything out of water except salt. I highly recommend it. Filter your water going into the tanks with a big household filter then use the Sea Gull for your coffee, drinking water and ice. It great. Saw all the usual cushion people. For some reason Ameriseam does not go to the show and they have the best product. They do the cushions for Hunter and made cockpit cushions for our boat and they are great. Ole Jenson of Jenson marine was there with his Flex-O-Fold propeller. It is the best propeller on the market in my view. His won the famous Cruising World test. Went on the $1.2 million Oyster 56. Very nice, but I'd rather have the P42. Saw other nice big boats, mostly overpriced. Went on the Beneteau 50, but I think the H 460 is better. Last but not least, I met Bob Bitchin and his wife Jody of Latitudes and Attitudes magazine. This is the BEST cruising magazine you can get. Bob and Jody are AMAZING. I had many pictures taken with them and bought their 2 videos. If you have read all 19 Patrick O'Brian books and are looking for something else to occupy your cruising needs, or even if you don't know who Patrick O'Brian is, you should pick up a copy of this magazine. A trial makes a customer with this one. Regards, Bradley Cavedo S/V Surprise 37.30.15 076.30.15
