I was wondering what size mushroom anchor would be good for my cat 22. It will be in 8 to 16 feet of water in a saltwater creek. Some sources I saw said 150 lbs but I was wondering if I could go with 100 and all chain (2.5 to 1 on scope) and I'd haul out for storms. Thanks

100 pounds should be OK

I've used 100 pounds on my mushroom anchor with no problems, however my scope was at least three to one. I think you do not want to go below three to one for the scope unless the anchorage is so crowded you must do so. Use a combination of heavy say 3/8 chain on the bottom and then maybe just 1/4 on top. The 1/4 will need to be replaced every two years or so.
